OK – took a look at those Maryland Connector plans – they all discriminate against transgender people. They have exclusions in the plans prohibiting coverage of trans health services.
So – same old, same old Maryland transphobic BS. Go away.

I’ve just been out to your organizations web site & reviewed your plan. No where does it mention removing exclusions on transgender health care and covering trans health services. Please explain what your group has done in this area that we should trust you to speak to trans issues on health care.

Please explain why you didn’t prioritize gay nondiscrimination legislation and gay marriage legislation as being less of a legislative priority than your project stated above. Are there any trans people on your board? Employed by your agency? In positions that influence policy?

Personally, I thought pet adoptions or marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade would be the next ‘anything but trans equality’ issue that would be inserted in front of trans equality in Maryland-with-gay-marriage.

But I knew it would be something – and I knew that Queer Channel Media would sign on.

While I wholeheartedly agree that the ACA will bring tremendous benefit to LGBT Marylanders, another piece of VERY important legislation, and likely a priority over the localized implementation of the ACA is that of extending and assuring nondiscrimination protections to transgender individuals in the Free State. The priority of prohibiting the denial of employment, housing or credit based solely on a person’s gender identity or expression should be equally important for those advocates who were engaged in the successful campaign for marriage equality.
