SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Manti Te’o hoax girlfriend story shifted again this week with admitted hoaxer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo telling television host Dr. Phil McGraw that he is “recovering” from homosexuality.

“You’ve heard of recovering drug addicts? It takes a lot of courage to stand and say that to recover from homosexuality and this type of thing,” Tuiasosopo told McGraw. “Not just that, but coming back to your real life, as hard of a task it is, I’m going to do all that I can to live right.’’

Tuiasosopo carried on a virtual long-distance three-year relationship with Norte Dame football star Manti Te’o, reportedly convincing the star that he was a woman named Lennay Kekua. In September, Tuiasosopo decided to end the relationship, and convinced Te’o that Kekua had died and later coming clean before the end of the year.

According to the Advocate, Tuiasosopo revealed to McGraw that his feelings for Te’o were genuine, which compelled him to maintain the rouse so long.
