Bitches....the emphasis has been squarely on Marriage Equality and little else. I can't remember the last time a state passed statewide legistation protecing gay people from employment discrimination. Progress in this regard has stagnated and taken a back seat. We've seen that our advocates will only push for so much of the agenda to freedom. As such, you need to pick and choose your battles wisely and not squander them on things that only benefit a few compared to most. ENDA should have been the emphasis over lifting the ban on gays in the military. Most of us don't work for the military dammit! Nancy Pelosi failed us by not bringing up ENDA for a vote while she had the House majority and putting it off with excuses. She's no better than the House GOP who won't allow the legislation even to come up for a vote to get it out of committee. They all say its never the right time. Unless you make it clear to that all the push should go into ENDA and Marriage Equality and not worry about the minuatiae until these goals are achieved, you're wasting precious time and resources. Obama won't be in office forever. Set your priorities and fight for them. Spreading yourself out too thin trying to do it all ends up getting nothing done!
