WASHINGTON — U.S. Department of Homeland Security Pride on June 6 honored Military Partners and Families Coalition Co-Founder Tracey Hepner at its annual Pride month reception.

“DHS Pride reduces anxiety for LGBT employees by demonstrating it is safe to be exactly who you are at work,” said Hepner, whose organization provides support to same-sex partners of military personnel and their families. “When an employee knows they can approach supervisors and peers about family or personal concerns and celebrations, it fosters a healthy workplace culture.”

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Gautam Raghavan of the White House’s Office of Public Engagement are among those who attended the event.
