TULSA, Okla.—Actress Raven-Symoné on Aug. 2 came out as a lesbian.

“I can finally get married!” she wrote on her Twitter account. “Yay government. So proud of you!”

Raven-Symoné, who appeared as Olivia on “The Cosby Show” and on “That’s So Raven” on the Disney Channel, disclosed her sexual orientation less than two months after the U.S. Supreme Court found a portion of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and struck down California’s Proposition 8. The actress released a statement through her representatives after she came out on Twitter.

“I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted,” Raven-Symoné, 27, said, as reported by CNN. “I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to.”
