OMAHA, Neb. — Nebraska’s Douglas County, the most populous county in the state, plans to consider extending health benefits to same-sex spouses of county employees who legally wed in other states, the Omaha World Herald reports.

A measure that was slated to go before the County Board this week would change the definition of an eligible spouse from “legally married spouse” to “The person to whom the employee is legally married regardless of whether that person is of the same gender or opposite gender of the employee,” the article notes.
