‘Flashdance’ shifts from screen to stage

“Flashdance: The Musical,” the stage musical adaptation of the popular movie, plays the Kennedy Center this month through Jan. 19.

The show celebrates the movie’s 30th anniversary through re-telling the story of Alex Owens, a steel mill welder who dreams of becoming a professional dancer. The musical uses a mix of old soundtrack favorites like “I Love Rock and Roll” and “Flashdance: What a Feeling” and16 original songs.
