FreeState Legal introduces new director

FreeState Legal is inviting the public to welcome its new executive director, Patrick Paschall, into the Baltimore legal community at a cocktail event on May 20 from 5-7 p.m. Venable, LLP will host the reception on its terrace and lounge space at 750 East Pratt St. Beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

“An activist on LGBTQ issues for over a decade at the local, state and national level, Patrick brings passion, enthusiasm, and vision to lead FreeState into a future of expanded services and deeper impact in Maryland’s LGBTQ community,” wrote Jer Welter, deputy director of FreeState Legal, in an email.

FreeState Legal is a non-profit legal advocacy organization serving low-income LGBT individuals.

An LGBTQ ally, Paschall has had a varied career in LGBTQ activism that included working for the National Center for Transgender Equality, Lambda Legal, Family Equality Council and Pride at Work. Paschall is also a local elected official, having served on the City Council for Hyattsville, Md., since 2013.
