WASHINGTON — The White House on Jan. 12 announced that its LGBT liaison is stepping down.
The Washington Post reported that Aditi Hardikar will join former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign as its finance director for coalitions.
Hardikar joined the administration in November 2014.
The Washington Post reported the White House credited Hardikar with advancing LGBT-specific issues during her tenure. These include the first-ever gender neutral restroom at the Executive Mansion and lighting it up in rainbow colors last June to celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court ruling extending marriage rights to same-sex couples throughout the country.
“Aditi’s fingerprints are all over many of this administration’s most important steps forward,” White House adviser Valerie Jarrett told the Washington Post.
The White House has yet to announce Hardikar’s successor.
