Lush has launched a campaign to bring awareness to transgender rights.
The #TransRightsAreHumanRights campaign was launched in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity and the National Center for Transgender Equality on Thursday.
The cosmetics brand introduced a new item, Inner Truth Bath Melt ($5.95), which is a combination of fair trade organic cocoa butter and orange oil, to its collection. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity.
Lush shop windows will also display quotes from transgender employees such as “The way I choose to present myself doesn’t make my identity any more or less valid,” and “No one identity or experience is the same.” Pamphlets will also be distributed to customers on how to a better ally.
Educational videos have been released on Lush’s YouTube channel featuring transgender people sharing their advice and stories.
#TransRightsAreHumanRights. We’re partnering with the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity to take a deep dive into the discrimination faced by transgender people in North America and discuss how cisgender people can be good allies. For the next two weeks, we’re stripping all product from our shop windows to let quotes from transgender and non-binary Lush staff members be the key focus. Use the hashtag #TransRightsAreHumanRights if you stand with us and tap the link in bio to hear from transgender and non-binary Lush staff members on what they’d like people to know about their identities.
