Silver Pride to return after two-year hiatus

Whitman-Walker Health and Team Rayceen Productions will join forces to host the return of Silver Pride on Monday, Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. at Studio Theatre. 

This event is to celebrate senior members of the LGBTQ community. This is a free dance party hosted by Rayceen Pendarvis. The celebration will include live music and an interactive exhibition featuring Whitman-Walker and Team Rayceen’s community partners.

The biggest drag stars are coming to town

‘Drag Race’ queens perform alongside local favorites

“Drag Me to the Disco” will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 9 p.m. at the Howard Theatre. 

This event will feature “Drag Race” stars Jaida Essence Hall, Vanessa Vanjie Matteo, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, and Luxx Noir London, and D.C. queens Cake Pop!, Crystal Edge, Dreux Sidora and Crimsyn will open the show. After the drag show, there will be a dance party with NYC’s DJ Boyyyish spinning disco house music. 

Tickets start at $50 and can be purchased on the Howard Theatre’s website.

AfroCode DC will be at 4 p.m. at Decades DC. This event will be an experience of non-stop music, dancing, and good vibes and a crossover of genres and a fusion of cultures. Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased on Eventbrite

Go Gay DC will host “LGBTQ+ Coffee” at 12 p.m. at As You Are. Guests are encouraged to come enjoy an evening of Italian-style dining and conversation with other LGBTQ folk on the enclosed front patio. Admission is free and more details are available on Eventbrite

Wicked Mondaze POP-UP Happy Hour will be at 5 p.m. at Wild Dayzs. This event will feature a performance from DJ MIM accompanied by renowned drummer Asha Santee. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased on Eventbrite

The DC Center’s Fresh Produce Program will be held all day at the DC Center for the LGBT Community. To be fair with who is receiving boxes, the program is moving to a lottery system. People will be informed on Wednesday at 5:00 pm if they are picked to receive a produce box. No proof of residency or income is required. Virtual Yoga Class with Charles M. will be at 12 p.m. online. This is a weekly class focusing on yoga, breath work, and meditation. Guests are encouraged to RSVP on the DC Center’s website, providing your name, email address, and zip code, along with any questions you may have. Duke Ellington Costume Shop unveils design vault

Flea market to include ‘timeless pieces’ from School of the Arts

The Duke Ellington Costume Shop will unveil its design vault for the first time on Saturday, Feb. 10, showcasing decades of craftsmanship and creativity. 

“The design vault houses an awe-inspiring collection available for purchase at our Flea Market event on Feb. 10. From evening gowns to cocktail dresses, these timeless pieces capture the essence of characters and eras from various productions,” according to a statement from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.

The Flea Market event, hosted by Ellington’s Technical Design and Production Department, offers a rare opportunity for patrons to own a piece of theatrical history. The event will take place at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, located at 3500 R St NW, Washington, DC 20007.
