RCM of Washington, a premier disability service provider agency with community-based locations throughout the District of Columbia, is hiring two (2) Direct Support Professionals who will work one-on-one with a life long resident of DC and activist for the LGBTQ community within DC. The person supported is in his fifties, lives in NW, and enjoys bowling in his spare time. Staff will assist with cooking, laundry, household chores/cleaning, reading/organizing mail and correspondence, and attendance at rallies, public meetings, and other events for the disability and LGBTQ communities. When in the community, the person supported uses a motorized wheelchair. Person supported prefers to work with a male who is also a lifelong resident of DC and will support and encourage his activism. Must be able to work 24 - 32 hours during Monday to Friday. If selected for the position, you will be required to attend a one-week orientation session and complete Department on Disability Services’ Phase I training. This is during normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). The selected candidate must submit your COVID-19 vaccine records or approval of exemption from DC Health in order to successfully complete onboarding process.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will: be at least 18 years of age - be able to effectively speak, read and write in English - be able to obtain a health certificate endorsed by a physician - be competent with basic computer literacy and able to complete daily documentation - be able to pass a background check and drug screening - possess good judgment in weighing the best use of resources and dealing with sensitive information - be self-motivated with great time management skills - provide excellent customer service, communication, and planning skills - be able to organize, set priorities, and follow through.

Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work environment may involve situations that require working with people with Behavior Support Plans, Trauma Informed Care Plans, Complex Medical Needs, and Developmental Disabilities. Employees are subject to outside environmental conditions including heat, cold, snow, wind, humidity, rain, etc.; work activities occur inside and outside.
