The National LGBTQ Task Force held its 50th Anniversary Gala at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. Awardees included Dominique Jackson and Constance Collins. Latrice Royale and Dyllón Burnside served as the emcees.

A “No Kings” demonstration was held in Anacostia on Saturday to protest the Trump administration. Speakers at the rally included LGBTQ activist, Rayceen Pendarvis. Following the rally, demonstrators marched across the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.

The annual fantasy, comics and science fiction convention Awesome Con was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on March 13-15. Featured guests included openly gay actor, author and activist, George Takei. The convention included LGBTQ panels and a “Pride Alley” with LGBTQ-specific booths in the exhibit hall.
