Lady Gaga has been banned from China after meeting with the Dalai Lama on Sunday.

The pop singer joined the Dalai Lama at the 84th annual U.S. Conference of Mayors in Indianapolis for a panel. She interviewed the Dalai Lama and streamed the conversation on her Facebook. Photos of the two were also posted on Instagram. 

The Communist Party banned the “Bad Romance” singer’s music from mainland China the following day, The Guardian reports. The 30-year-old is also banned from entering the country. Before the incident, Lady Gaga was one of the most popular Western musicians in mainland China.

The Dalai Lama fled to Tibet in 1959 after an attempted uprising against the Communist party. China still considers the Dalai Lama a separatist.

Other musicians such as Bjork, Selena Gomez and Maroon 5 have been banned from China for meeting the Dalai Lama or speaking out in favor of Tibetan independence.

Lady Gaga’s music had previously been banned from China for being “too vulgar.”
