Moving take on gay teens

By on October 1, 2010

My friend Brian Moylan at Gawker wrote a very moving piece on this week’s tragic suicides, please take a moment to check it out.

This has been an emotional week. Many of us in D.C. tend to get so wrapped up in politics, policy and infighting that we forget about the real lives of people outside the beltway. I know I speak for many in the movement when I say I feel it’s a personal failure when a young person takes his or her life because they couldn’t see a way out of the loneliness and shame of the closet and the bullying of others.

What have we accomplished if kids are still killing themselves for being gay?
