Life on the Bay

Annapolis boasts many features attractive to prospective homeowners. For those drawn to life on the water, it’s hard to beat.

There is a great little secret just 20 miles away from Washington and downtown Baltimore. This gem of a town is nestled right on the Chesapeake Bay, one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the continental United States. Let me introduce you to Annapolis, Md., which is known for its sailing, the United States Naval Academy, 300-year old historic buildings, charming restaurants and a variety of boutiques and antique stores.

Annapolis is also the home of St. John’s College as well as the seat of state government and the capital of Maryland. Throw in the accompanying tourist and marine industry and multi-million dollar waterfront homes, you have a multitude of reasons to invest in the real estate market in the Annapolis area.

There are many highlights in our local real estate market; one is the diverse range of pricing. House prices range from $100,000 to the $8.5 million and rental properties are listed for $800-$6,000 per month. The real estate market is improving as 50 homes went under contract, 53 sold and 102 new listings posted in the 21401 zip code alone in the past month. In comparison, during the month of May, 35 homes sold, 40 new contracts and 100 new homes became available to the market.

Buyers’ are drawn to Annapolis area with its famous sailing regattas, Annapolis and Eastport Yacht clubs, sailing schools and races and numerous marinas. Chesapeake Bay area boasts the most shoreline in North America totaling over 540 miles of shore. If you enjoy the water, you have come to the right place.

Homes often include community marinas, crabbing and fishing piers and  pools on the water. Once you experience the peacefulness of being on the water and letting go with the wind in control, you quickly see why this becomes a way of life. Our communities of realtors have a great sense of the importance of the Bay and we all try to protect its integrity by informing our buyers of their obligations when living on the water.

As a realtor, we are also challenged with all the other aspects of getting our listings to settlement. We work together as a team in order to provide our clients with the best knowledge and service. As an agent within Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and 27 years of experience in the Annapolis area, I have pride in my hometown and love the diversity that makes this city a wonderful place to call home.
