Timed to go along with the release of the blockbuster film, “Oz, the Great and Powerful” now showing in theaters, Tongueincheek Entertainment will presenting “The Return of Oz” at the Club Hippo on March 16. The Wizard of Oz-themed dance party will feature go-go boys, performances by Baltimore drag talent, a room transformed into the Emerald City, and special guest DJ, Alex Funk.
“The entire staff will be dressed in costume; we’ll have Dorothy, munchkins, a scarecrow, a tin man, and a cowardly lion,” Jay Day of Tongueincheek Enterprises told the Blade. “We’ll also have Glinda, the good witch played by Sabrina White, and the Wicked Witch of the East, played by Araya Sparxx.” He says that the go-go boys will be the “winged monkeys.”
Day explained that the décor will consist of a yellow brick road that starts outside and ends on the dance floor, a field of poppies, and a big rainbow over the dance floor.
“We’re very excited to bring Tongueincheek’s special brand of nightlife back to the Hippo for our second event,” said Day. “Our goal is always to elevate the level of gay nightlife in Baltimore and entertain our community on a sickening level.”
Doors open at 10 p.m. Admission is $8 and free with a college or military ID.
