“The Royal Road” by lesbian filmmaker Jenni Olson screens at Busboys and Poets (625 Monroe St., N.E.) on Tuesday, March 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The film, an official selection for the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, showcases the urban California landscapes with a voiceover by Olson and a voiceover cameo by Tony Kushner. Olson discusses topics as varied as the Spanish colonization of California and the Mexican American War to butch identity and Olson’s quest for unavailable women. There will be a question-and-answer session with Olson after the screening.
