No Justice No Pride, working with other community partners, held the ‘DC Pride2020 March+Caravan’ on Saturday with a call to defund the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. Following a rally at Jessup Blair Park, activists marched through the streets of the Colonial Village neighborhood to the house of District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser where they held a dance party and peaceful protest. A “No Kings” demonstration was held in Anacostia on Saturday to protest the Trump administration. Speakers at the rally included LGBTQ activist, Rayceen Pendarvis. Following the rally, demonstrators marched across the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.

The annual fantasy, comics and science fiction convention Awesome Con was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on March 13-15. Featured guests included openly gay actor, author and activist, George Takei. The convention included LGBTQ panels and a “Pride Alley” with LGBTQ-specific booths in the exhibit hall.
