Reel Affirmations Film Festival hosts “Champagne, Cocktails and Cake,” a film screening of short film “Birthday Cake” and reception with the writer/filmmaker Chad Darnell, Friday night at the Washington Jewish Community Center (1529 16th St., N.W.) from 7-11 p.m.

“Birthday Cake” is the sequel to Darnell’s “Groom Cake,” a mockumentary that followed television star Steven James (Rib Hillis) and his writer boyfriend Daniel Ferguson (Chad Darnell) in the three days that led to their wedding and adoption of a baby. The sequel shows the couple celebrating their baby’s first birthday.

Tickets are $15 and include the film screenings and reception. The screenings are at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The reception is at 8:45 p.m. For more information, visit
