‘Golden Girls’ gets Funko figurine line
“Golden Girls” are getting Funko-fied.
As part of its Pop series, Funko is transforming the “Golden Girls” characters into big-headed, wide-eyed figurines. The dolls, posted by Instagram user ryespops, were featured in Funko’s new catalog at Toy Fair 2016 in New York.
Sophia has gigantic glasses and a little body, Rose is decked out in blue with a hand on her hip, Blanche is wearing all red with two hands on her hips and Dorothy stands with her arms crossed and full of attitude. The dolls will be released later this year.
Funko has created figurines and toys from many different shows and franchises such as Disney, “Scooby Doo” and “Dragon Ball Z.” Other ’80s favorites will get the Funko treatment like “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.”

The Wanda Alston Foundation held its Fall Reception at the Penthouse Rooftop at The Wharf on Friday, Sept. 18. Honorees included D.C. Councilmember Robert White, Director of the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs Japer Bowles, and the Washington Capitals. Rayceen Pendarvis served as the emcee and entertainment was provided by the Thomas Circle Singers.
