Signature Theatre’s annual Stephen Sondheim Awards Gala was held at the Italian Embassy on Monday, April 16. This year’s award was presented to legendary performer Patti LuPone. Gabriel Mangiante was honored as well with the Young Artist Citation. Performers at the gala included Laura Benanti, Natascia Diaz, Howard McGillin and Joseph Thalken.

A “No Kings” demonstration was held in Anacostia on Saturday to protest the Trump administration. Speakers at the rally included LGBTQ activist, Rayceen Pendarvis. Following the rally, demonstrators marched across the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.
