“Once Upon a Time” finally introduced its first same-sex couple on the show this month, but One Million Moms is outraged by the storyline.

Ruby from “Little Red Riding Hood” and Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” became an official canon couple on the episode “Ruby Slippers,” which aired on ABC on April 17. The episode even included a kiss between the two women.

One Million Moms issued a statement accusing the show runners of creating “distorted and twisted” storylines for the popular fairy tales. The statement calls the inclusion of a lesbian couple “unnecessary” and dismisses the producers, who have stated they felt putting homosexuality in the show was important.

“Last year, when hinting the coming storyline, they said, ‘It (the LGBTQ relationship) is something we think is due and important to do on the show. This is the world we live in.’ The producers repeated the mantra ‘love is love’ and again admitted that their goal was to normalize and push gay relationships ‘as a part of everyday life,” the statement reads.

“Homosexuality continues to be over-represented in the media because producers want people, and especially kids, to think it’s normal and everyday life. In reality, that is their fairytale,” the statement continues.
