A teenager was kicked out of her school prom for wearing a suit.

ABC 27 reports Aniya Wolf, who is a lesbian, was forced to leave Bishop McDevitt High School’s prom in Harrisburg, Pa., for not following the dance’s dress code.

Wolf says she has always worn pants and a shirt as her school uniform for three years. However, the school sent out a last-minute email strictly enforcing that girls wear dresses to the dance.

Carolyn Wolf, Aniya’s mother, called the school and explained she felt the prom dress code was unfair since Aniya had already bought a new suit for the dance. Wolf decided to go to the dance despite the dress code, but was thrown out because she was wearing a suit.

A school official threatened to call the police if Wolf did not leave.

“I think my experience shouldn’t be any different than anyone else’s because of something I was born with,” Wolf told ABC 27. “You know, a lot of girls’ dresses, I mean I’m not saying that all of them are this way, but they do show a lot of skin, she said. “I think I’m dressed pretty modestly.”
