Tom Ford isn’t interested in dressing soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump and never has been.

The fashion designer appeared on “The View” to promote his upcoming film “Nocturnal Animals” and revealed he had the chance to design for Trump but opted out.

“I don’t know, I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago, and I declined,” Ford says. “She’s not necessarily my image.”

Ford continued that although Trump doesn’t fit his image he wouldn’t have wanted to dress Hillary Clinton either.

“Even had Hillary won, she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes. They’re too expensive,” Ford says.

However, Ford has designed for Michelle Obama. He dressed Obama in 2011 for her visit to Buckingham Palace. For Ford, the special occasion warranted his dress design.

”She was going to Buckingham Palace for dinner with the queen and I thought that was appropriate,” Ford says. “I live in London so that makes sense. And it was an honor to dress her.”
