The Human Rights Campaign will make a “six-figure” investment in this year’s Virginia General Assembly races.
An HRC spokesperson on Wednesday confirmed to the Washington Blade a report that appeared in the Washington Post earlier in the day.
The Post reported HRC plans to mobilize its supporters with digital ads and mailings and hire field organizers ahead of the November election in which all 100 members of the Virginia House of Delegates and 40 members of the Virginia Senate are on the ballot. The Post also said HRC will make financial contributions to 27 Democrats.
“We believe that Virginia’s at a turning point for people who live in that state, for LGBTQ people,” HRC President Alphonso David told the Post.
David is scheduled to officially announce the investment on Thursday in Richmond.
