The Cherry Fund to give $51,700 to local non-profits at Giveback Reception
The Blade Foundation, Casa Ruby, among others to receive proceeds

The Cherry Fund hosts its Giveback Reception at VIDA (1612 U St., N.W.) on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 7-9:30 p.m. The reception will give $51,700 raised from the organization’s annual fundraising weekend to local non-profits.
“We are very fortunate that we can continue to give back to our community and help support the HIV/AIDS and Mental Health Service Communities,” Board President Allen Sexton said in a statement. “We couldn’t do it without the support of our patrons, sponsors, partners, volunteers, djs, venues, and entertainers.”
Cherry will be giving back the proceeds from Cherry and Cherry Pride. Recipients will include the Blade Foundation, Trans-Latina Coalition, TRANSlaw, Us Helping Us, Capital Trans Pride, the D.C Center and many more.
There will be complimentary appetizers and Tito’s vodka drinks.

The 2025 Capital Pride Honors awards ceremony and gala reception was held at the National Building Museum on Thursday, June 5. Honorees included Cathy Renna, Jerry St. Louis, Ernest Hopkins, Lamar Braithwaite, Rev. Dr. Donna Claycomb Sokol, Kriston Pumphrey, Gia Martinez, Kraig Williams and SMYAL. Presenters and speakers included U.S. Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.), Amber Ruffin, Raven-Symoné and Paul Wharton.

La Fiesta: The Official Latinx Pride Party was held at Bunker on Thursday, May 29. The event was hosted by Lady J Monroe and featured performances by Mia Carlisle, Stefon Royce, Evry Pleasure and Alexis Carter St. James.
