Kelly Rowland to play Capital Pride Festival

Capital Pride announced this week that Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Rowland will headline this year’s festival, slated for June 12.

Rowland gained fame as part of the group Destiny’s Child and has since pursued a successful solo career.

“Kelly Rowland is an excellent entertainer and an avid supporter of the LGBT community,” said Rob Corbett, director of operations for Capital Pride, in a statement. “Along with Kelly’s performance, we have a day full of entertainment, food, activities and educational opportunities planned for the festival. We hope to the LGBT community, friends and allies join us.”

The festival will take place on Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., on June 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    The name should be changed to Gay White Pride, not Capital Pride.
