Capital Pride names new director, board members
Capital Pride, the non-profit group that organizes D.C.’s annual LGBT Pride parade and festival, announced on Tuesday that its board has appointed gay sports advocate Ryan Bos as the organization’s new executive director.
Bos has served as president of Team D.C., the LGBT sports league in the D.C. area, since 2010, according to a statement released by the Capital Pride Board. The statement says Bos has worked in various positions at the University of Maryland’s Baltimore County campus since 1998 and most recently has served as the campus’s associate director of residential life.
Bernie Delia, whom the board elected as its president, said Bos will work on a part-time basis until Jan. 1, when the position will become full-time through Aug. 31, 2012, when the contract for the post expires. Capital Pride officials have said the organization usually hires paid staff for part of the year to enable the group’s large contingents of volunteers to put together the festival, parade and a series of other Pride events in June.
In addition to electing Delia as president, the board elected Mary Paradise as board vice president, Scott Mallan as treasurer, and Ray Panas as secretary, the statement says.
