Gay Democratic activist Toby Quaranta is running for president of the Young Democrats of the District of Columbia in an election caucus scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at the city’s John A. Wilson City Hall building.

“I promise to grow the organization to a size it has never seen before, giving the young people of this city a more effective voice,” Quaranta said in a campaign statement. “I promise to focus our membership’s talents on community service inside the city, and political support for our friends in swing districts outside the city,” his campaign statement said.

Local Democratic activists Branden Todd and Palak Jain are running against Quaranta at the Saturday caucus. The two couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
