WASHINGTON — The founder of the Bilerico Project on June 30 announced that he is ending his LGBT blog that he launched more than a decade ago.

Bil Browning wrote that then-President George W. Bush’s election as well as last month’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that extended marriage rights to same-sex couples across the country are among the “multitude of important stories” he and his contributors have covered since 2004.

“Projects are meant to be temporary and so was Bilerico Project,” wrote Browning, who is from Indiana. “After more than a decade, it’s time to wrap up our experiment. The media landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade and so have our lives and the LGBT movement itself. It’s time to turn the page and start something fresh in this new environment.”

Browning said the more than 31,000 posts on his blog will be archived on its website.
