Mixtape celebrates eight years with anniversary party

Mixtape is celebrating eight years of running its alternative dance party on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 p.m.-3 a.m. at 9:30 Club (815 V St., N.W.).

Resident DJs Matt Bailer and Shea Van Horn will be spinning a mix of indie-dance music all night long. This party is an all-ages event.

Mixtape began in 2008 and has since earned multiple Washington Blade Best of Gay D.C. awards including Best Alternative Party in 2015, Best Men’s Party 2014 and Best DJ for Matt Bailer in 2015.

The Wanda Alston Foundation held its Fall Reception at the Penthouse Rooftop at The Wharf on Friday, Sept. 18. Honorees included D.C. Councilmember Robert White, Director of the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs Japer Bowles, and the Washington Capitals. Rayceen Pendarvis served as the emcee and entertainment was provided by the Thomas Circle Singers.
