A rally against a Trump plan to undo a trans health rule is planned for tonight.

Transgender advocates are set to host a rally Tuesday evening to protest a Trump administration plan to rollback a regulation barring anti-trans discrimination in health care.

The event — coordinated by the National Center for Transgender Equality — is set to take place at the headquarters for the AFL-CIO near the White House as the Trump administration considers a reversal of a rule interpreting the ban on sex discrimination under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act to apply to transgender people.

The Obama-era regulation bars health care providers from discriminating against or refusing treatment to transgender people, including gender reassignment surgery. A federal judge had enjoined enforcement of the rule, but it still remain on the books as the Trump administration considers reversing it.

Despite the ruling from this single judge, a reversal of the regulation would stand in contrast to rulings multiple courts — both at the district and appellate level — finding anti-trans discrimination amounts to sex discrimination under current law.

The rally is set to begin at 6 PM EST at the AFL-CIO headquarters, which is located at 815 16th St NW, Washington D.C.
