Whitman-Walker honors 25 for role in AIDS fight

Whitman-Walker Health announced this week that it would honor 25 individuals who have played a prominent role in the city’s HIV/AIDS fight as part of this weekend’s AIDS Walk.

Washington Blade reporter Lou Chibbaro Jr. is among those to be recognized.

“During his more than 30 years as a reporter for the Washington Blade, Lou Chibbaro has written countless stories on the impact of HIV/AIDS on the local community,” Whitman-Walker said in a statement. “He has continued to keep Blade readers up to date on the current state of the epidemic and the government response to it.”

Other honorees include Ron Simmons of Us Helping Us, Carl Schmid of the AIDS Institute, Adam Tenner of Metro Teen AIDS and Tipper Gore. Visit Whitman-walker.org for the full list of honorees.
