DETROIT — The leaders of eight of Michigan’s LGBT community centers have announced a 100-day “hunger strike” to protest the state’s “extreme” anti-LGBT environment in advance of the November election.

The director of Michigan’s largest LGBT center, Affirmations in suburban Detroit, will join the leaders of LGBT community centers in Kalamazoo, Benton Harbor, Midland and Grand Rapids, as well as the Latino and African-American LGBT centers in Detroit in rotating 24-hour shifts throughout the 100 days, where each of the leaders will be “living on display in the front windows of Affirmations.”
