The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore (GLCCB) will be celebrating its 35th anniversary with a gala at Club Hippo on Nov. 10. The event will take place from 7-11 p.m. It will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, surprise guests and music by JR Embrey. The organizers promise fabulous decor as well as a ceremonial cutting of the cake, generously donated by Charm City Cakes.
The Hippo will open to the public at 11 p.m. and guests can enjoy the rest of the evening with no cover. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased online.
“It’s a proud moment in history for the LGBT community of greater Baltimore, as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the GLCCB,” Board President Bud Beehler told the Blade. “The courage of the brave men and women who sacrificed their personal safety, outing themselves in an intolerant world and founding The Baltimore Gay Center in 1977, is remarkable. “
The gala is sponsored by Chase Brexton Health Services, Club Hippo, Charm City Cakes, and the GLCCB.
