JQ Baltimore, the new Jewish support group for LGBT individuals, will hold a pre-Purim celebration with the first gay Orthodox Jewish African American hip-hop artist, Y-Love on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. Y-Love is the celebrity spokesperson for Keshet, a Jewish advocacy group, and a Baltimore native.

Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction in the wake of a plot by Haman, a story recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther.

The event takes place at Beth Am Synagogue, 2501 Eutaw Place in Baltimore. General admission is $10 and $5 for students with an ID. For more information, email  jqbaltimore@gmail.com or call 443-300-8996.
