D.C. LGBT rights organization celebrates milestone at Washington Plaza
The Gay & Lesbian Activist Alliance (GLAA) held its 40th anniversary celebration at the Washington Plaza on Wednesday. Members of the D.C. Council presented a resolution and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton gave remarks. Distinguished Service Awards were presented to John Bryson Chane, Sharon Farmer, David Friedman, Theodore Guerrant, Ronald King and David Ward.

The LGBTQ youth services organization SMYAL held its annual Fall Brunch at the Marriott Marquis on Saturday, Sept. 21. Jaida Essence Hall of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ performed. Speakers included D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

The LGBTQ family and ally organization PFLAG held its “Love Takes Justice” reception at the Washington Marriott Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Honorees at the event included Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten.
