NEW YORK—A group of LGBT rights advocates gathered outside the New York Stock Exchange in lower Manhattan to protest the NYSE’s third annual “Russia Day.”

Members of Queer Nation protested Russia’s law that bans gay propaganda to minors by holding rainbow-colored banners that read “NYSE WTF?” and “Russian thugs nyet!” The Moscow Times reported the protest prompted stock exchange officials to cancel plans to allow a Russian delegation to ring the closing bell.

The protest took place less than 72 hours after two men opened fire at a Moscow gay club.
