Pop star Ariana Grande will headline New York Pride’s 29th Dance on the Pier on Sunday, June 28, on Hudson River Park’s Pier 26, the organization announced Tuesday.
NYC Pride has a record of booking the biggest pop acts for the event, including past performers Cher, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson.
“We are delighted to welcome Ariana Grande to one of the world’s top-tier LGBT events,” said dance director José Ramos. “Dance on the Pier is a highly anticipated part of Pride, thanks in part to amazing DJs and incredible performers. This year will be no different.”
In addition to Grande’s performance, about 10,000 attendees will dance to award-winning DJs Ralphi Rosario, The Cube Guys and Wayne G. The event closes with a fireworks display.
Dance on the Pier is NYC Pride’s largest fundraiser with proceeds supporting NYC Pride’s annual events and enabling about $45,000 in grants to local LGBT community groups.
