Wonder Woman is out of a job at the United Nations just two months after being appointed.

The United Nations has ended its campaign for the empowerment of women and girls with the fictional superhero character following backlash that the character was too sexy.

A petition, started by U.N. staffers, raised more than 44,000 signatures to have Wonder Woman removed from the campaign because she was not a realistic woman.

The petition describes the character as “a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions, scantily clad in a shimmery, thigh-baring body suit with an American flag motif and knee high boots ā€“the epitome of a ‘pin-up’ girl.”

“The bottom line appears to be that the United Nations was unable to find a real life woman that would be able to champion the rights of ALL women,” the petition continues.

A spokesperson for the U.N. told New York Daily News that fictional characters typically serve short terms as ambassadors.

Winnie the Pooh has also served as the ambassador of friendship and Tinker Bell once served as the ambassador of green.

For queers of a certain age (you know who you are), these style-forward mix-ins give edge without looking desperately trendy or ā€“ God forbid ā€“ completely out of touch (you know who you are, too). $38-$68, imogeneandwillie.com
