Frank Ocean has responded to his estranged father’s $14.5 million defamation lawsuit over a homophobic slur.

Calvin Cooksey filed the lawsuit against Ocean for writing in a Tumblr post that Cooksey called a transgender waitress “f****t” when the singer was six years old. Cooksey claims that the story is false and has cost him financial opportunities in film and music.

“I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f****t as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t,” Ocean wrote in the Tumblr post.

According to TMZ, Ocean has responded to Cooksey’s lawsuit and is requesting the court dismiss the case. He also wants his father to pay for all legal fees.

The response states that Ocean “lacks sufficient knowledge or information to determine the truth of the allegation … that Plaintiff is not a homophobic bigot.”

“Defendant alleges the statements made are statements of opinion, and thus not the proper subjects of a libel claim,” the response continues.

The family feud has brewed between the two for years. In 2012, Ocean tweeted that his father wanted to sue him for $1 million but did not state the reason. The tweet has since been deleted.
