President Trump on Friday said he will nominate State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert to succeed outgoing U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley.

Nauert, a former Fox News reporter, has been with the State Department since 2017.

She has publicly condemned the crackdown against gay and bisexual men in Chechnya. Nauert has also promoted Spirit Day, a campaign that seeks to combat bullying.

Nauert on Friday specifically thanked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a tweet that acknowledges her nomination.

“Secretary Pompeo, it’s a privilege to work on your team alongside my (State Department) colleagues,” said Nauert. “The miles I’ve traveled with you have underscored the importance of U.S. leadership on the world stage. I can’t wait to continue to advance American people’s interests at (the U.S. Mission to the U.N.) if confirmed.”

Haley resigned in October.
