Saturday, April 2

Go Gay DC will host “LGBTQ+ Community Brunch” at 10 a.m. at Freddie’s Beach Bar & Restaurant. This event is ideal for those who want a good brunch and conversation with other LGBTQ+ folk. The event is free and details are available on Eventbrite

Day in the District Events will be hosting “Aries Arena Day Edition at 5:00p.m. at Sax Theater & Lounge. There will be drink specials, hookah, and bottle service. The event will also feature entertainment from two DJs. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased on Eventbrite

Sunday, April 3

AfroCode DC will be at 3 p.m. at Decades DC. This event is an experience of non-stop music, dancing, and good vibes. The music will be a crossover of genres such as hip-hop, Afrobeats and soca. Tickets cost $60 and can be purchased on Eventbrite

Monday, April 4

Center Aging Coffee Drop-In will be at 10 a.m. at the DC Center for the LGBT Community and online on Zoom. LGBT Older Adults — and friends — are invited to enjoy friendly conversations and to discuss any issues you might be dealing with. For more information, visit the Center Aging’s Facebook or Twitter

The Georgetown University Gender + Justice Initiative, Women’s and Gender Studies Program, French Department, LGBTQ Resource Center, Women’s Center and French In Motion will be hosting a screening of “The Parisienne Uncovered,” a documentary by Rokhaya Diallo, at 5 p.m. at Lohrfink Auditorium. The documentary seeks to debunk the image often conjured of the stereotypical Parisian woman — cisgender, white, clad in high-end fashion, upper-class and thin. The screening will be followed by a conversation and Q&A session with Diallo. More details are available on Eventbrite.

Center Aging: Women’s Social & Discussion Group will be at 6 p.m. on Zoom. This group is a place where older LGBTQ+ women can meet and socialize with each other. For more information, reach out to Alida at [email protected] or Adam at [email protected]

“Create Your Own Adventure: Starting Out with Polyamory/ENM” will be at 7 p.m. at The Pincus Center for Inclusive Treatment and Education. This event is part of a six-week course that takes guests through the first steps in building the foundation of a happy, thriving polyamorous/ENM life. Wednesday, April 6

Job Club will be at 6 p.m. in-person at the DC Center for the LGBT Community and online on Zoom. The Job Club is a weekly job support program to help job entrants and seekers, including the long-term unemployed, improve self-confidence, motivation, resilience and productivity for effective job searches and networking — allowing participants to move away from being merely “applicants.”

BookMen DC will be at 7:30 p.m. on Zoom. This is an informal group of men interested in discussing gay fiction and non-fiction literature. For more information about this month’s reading, visit BookMen DC’s website.

The DC Center’s Food Pantry Program will be held all day at the DC Center for the LGBT Community. To be fair with who is receiving boxes, the program is moving to a lottery system. People will be informed on Wednesday at 5 p.m. if they are picked to receive a produce box. No proof of residency or income is required. API Queer Support Group will be at 7 p.m. on Zoom. This is a support group for the Asian and Pacific Islander Queer Community co-sponsored by APIQS (Asian Pacific Islander Queer Society DC) and AQUA (Asian Queers United for Action). For more information, email [email protected]

This peer support group is an outlet for LGBTQ people of color to come together and talk about anything affecting them in a space that strives to be safe and judgement free. Tuesday, August 18

“Self-Defense Class with Avi Rome” will be at 12:30 p.m. Rome is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and a full-time Martial Arts instructor with 25 years of teaching experience. He holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do and is the director of the studio’s Adaptive Tae Kwon Do program for students with special needs. He has also run numerous self-defense workshops for various groups and situations. For more details, visit the center’s website.

The DC LGBTQ+ Community Center will host “Movement for Healing” at 3 p.m. This trauma- and yoga therapy–informed class is designed to help guests gently reconnect with their body and their breath. Through mindful movement, somatic awareness, and grounding practices, guests will explore how to release tension, increase mobility, and cultivate a deeper sense of safety and ease within.
