British musical invasion set for Rehoboth Beach

Chorus opens 14th season with Rolling stones, Beatles, Spice Girls, Adele

If you like British music, CAMP Rehoboth Chorus is paying tribute with special shows next month.

In 1813, the British invaded the town of Lewes in Sussex County, Del. In 2024, the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus is opening its 14th season by bringing a British musical invasion to Delmarva, celebrating British rockers and balladeers from the past 60 years, from the Rolling Stones and Beatles through the Spice Girls and Adele, according to a press release. Concert dates are Presidentsā€™ Day weekend, with evening performances on Feb. 16 and 17, and a Sunday matinee Feb. 18. The Chorus performs at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Tickets are available at camprehoboth.com.

Watercolor painting class held on Thursday

ā€œWatercolor Painting with Center Agingā€ will be on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. at the DC Center for the LGBT Community. 

In this winter-themed painting class for seniors led by local artist Laya Monarez, guests will learn about watercoloring techniques, be given a demonstration, and allowed to create their own watercolor pieces. Go Gay DC will host ā€œFirst Friday LGBTQ+ Community Social in the Cityā€ at 7 p.m. at P.F. Changā€™s. This event is ideal for making new friends, professional networking, idea-sharing, and community building. This event is free and more details are available on Eventbrite.

Saturday, December 7

Go Gay DC will host ā€œLGBTQ+ Community Brunchā€ at 11 a.m. at Freddieā€™s Beach Bar & Restaurant. This fun weekly event brings the DMV area LGBTQ community, including allies, together for delicious food and conversation. Attendance is free and more details are available on Eventbrite.

LGBTQ People of Color Support Group will be at 1 p.m. on Zoom. This peer support group is an outlet for LGBTQ People of Color to come together and talk about anything affecting them in a space that strives to be safe and judgment free. Sunday, December 8

Go Gay DC will host ā€œLGBTQ+ Community Dinnerā€ at 6:30 p.m. at Federico Ristorante Italiano Freddieā€™s Beach Bar & Restaurant. Guests are encouraged to come enjoy an evening of Italian-style dining and conversation with other LGBTQ folk. Attendance is free and more details are available on Eventbrite.

AfroCode DC will be at 4 p.m. at Decades DC. This event will be an experience of non-stop music, dancing, and good vibes and a crossover of genres and a fusion of cultures. Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.Ā 

Monday, December 9

Center Aging: Monday Coffee & Conversation will be at 10 a.m. on Zoom. This is a social hour for older LGBTQ adults. Guests are encouraged to bring a beverage of their choice. For more details, email [email protected].Ā 

Genderqueer DC will be at 7 p.m. on Zoom. This is a support group for people who identify outside of the gender binary, whether youā€™re bigender, agender, genderfluid, or just know that youā€™re not 100% cis. For more details, visit www.genderqueerdc.org or Facebook.Ā 

Tuesday, December 10

Trans Support Group will be at 7 p.m. on Zoom. This group is intended to provide emotionally and physically safe space for trans people and those who may be questioning their gender identity/expression to join together in community and learn from one another. Job Club will be at 6 p.m. on Zoom.
