Gender-bending rapper Mykki Blanco performs at the Howard Theatre (620 T St., N.W.) Friday night at 11:30 p.m.

Blanco, aka Michael David Quattlebaum Jr., is a performance artist, hip-hop musician and poet. His first poetry collection was released by New York’s OHWOW gallery and took six years to write. Blanco went on to found performance art collective “NO FEAR.” The opening act will be DJ Baronhawk Poitier.
