Pride returns with Heatwave event

Capital Pride hosts its second annual Holiday Heatwave celebration at the Human Rights Equality Center (1640 Rhode Island Ave., N.W.) on Monday from 7:30-10 p.m.

There will be tasting stations, drinks and music. Local restaurants participating include Luke Lobster, D.C. Empanadas, Penn Commons and more. Half of the proceeds of each ticket sold will be donated to a non-profit Capital Pride partner of the guest’s choice.

  • Does anyone else wonder why they call it the Human Rights Campaign but they only work for gay rights? What about women's rights? racial minority rights? deaf rights, handicapped rights. etc. It's a nice title but inflated, don't you think?
