New gay bear bars open in D.C.

D.C. welcomed two new gay bear bars to the scene this year with Uproar and Woof Den Sports Bar.
Uproar (639 Florida Ave N.W) is a restaurant and lounge that opened on Jan. 21. It includes a rooftop deck and has discounted happy hours. Its kitchen is also open all night until close. It’s Twitter page frequently updates with food and drink specials for the day.
Woof Den Sports Bar (1723 Connecticut Ave., N.W.) is a new sports bar that includes multiple T.V’s and pool. The bar, which just opened this year, is located downstairs from adult shop Bite the Fruit (1723 Connecticut Ave., N.W.).
Both bars have plans to coordinate bar events with the bear community in the coming months.

The Wanda Alston Foundation held its Fall Reception at the Penthouse Rooftop at The Wharf on Friday, Sept. 18. Honorees included D.C. Councilmember Robert White, Director of the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs Japer Bowles, and the Washington Capitals. Rayceen Pendarvis served as the emcee and entertainment was provided by the Thomas Circle Singers.
