“Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher is denying that a gay scene in the biopic will be censored following a report from the Daily Mail that claimed Paramount Studios wanted to edit the scene.

The 40-second scene featured Elton John (Taron Egerton) and John’s manager and lover John Reid (Richard Madden) showing off their “fully exposed white derrieres.” The Daily Mail reported that Paramount Studios wanted the scene cut to achieve a PG-13 rating in hopes of achieving similar success to the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which is PG-13.

Fletcher took to Twitter to deny the report calling it “nothing but rumors.”

“Seeing much speculation about ROCKETMAN!” he wrote. “That’s good! It’s still unfinished so it’s nothing but rumours. It has and always will be the no holds barred, musical fantasy that Paramount and producers passionately support and believe in. See for yourself May 24,” Fletcher tweeted.

Even though “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a box office hit, the film was accused of straight-washing Freddie Mercury with a lack of scenes about Mercury’s attraction to men and more focus on his relationship with girlfriend Mary Austin.
