“House of Cards” has been on hiatus since October following multiple sexual misconduct allegations, including on-set, against Kevin Spacey. According to a letter from the series’ producers published in the Hollywood Reporter, the hiatus has been extended.
MCR and Netflix suspended production of the series amid concerns from the cast and crew about the allegations surrounding Spacey. In a letter from Pauline Micelli, MRC’s Senior VP of TV Business and Legal Affairs, Micelli explained that the crew would be put on an extended, paid two-week hiatus. Production is expected to resume on Dec. 8. However, “a small contingency of office/accounting staff who will remain in the production office on a continuous basis.”
It’s been speculated that the series has been working on revamping its sixth and final season by writing Spacey’s character, Frank Underwood, off the show.
“The one thing we have learned throughout this process is that this production is bigger than just one person and we could not be more proud to be associated with one of the most loyal and talented production cast and crews in this business,” Micelli writes.
Spacey is currently seeking “evaluation and treatment” in the aftermath of the allegations.
